NOSE: Sneezing, especially when entering a warm room. Copious, watery and extremely burning discharge.
SYMPTOMS worse; in the evening, in warm room. Better; in open air, and in cold room.

ANTIMONIUM-TARTARICUM
Fear of being alone. Great rattling of mucus in chest, but very little is expectorated.
COUGH: Better lying on right side
FEVER: Coldness, trembling, and chilliness. Intense heat. Copious perspiration.
SYMPTOMS worse from lying down at night, from warmth. Better from sitting erect and from expectoration.

ARSENICUM-ALBUM
Exhaustion, and restlessness. Unquenchable thirst. Fears, of death, of being left alone.
HEAD: Headaches relieved by cold, other symptoms worse.
EYES: Burning in eyes.
NOSE: Thin, watery, burning discharge.
STOMACH: Great thirst; drinks much, but little at a time.
RESPIRATION: Cough worsens lying on back.
FEVER: High temperature.
SYMPTOMS: worse; from cold, cold drinks, or food. Better; from heat; from head elevated; warm drinks.

BELLADONNA
HEAD: Pain; fullness, especially in forehead, also back and temples. Pain worse light, noise, jar, lying down and in afternoon; better by pressure and semi-erect posture.
FACE: Red, bluish-red, hot,
NOSE: Coryza; mucus mixed with blood.
MOUTH: Dry.
THROAT: Tonsils enlarged. Continual inclination to swallow.
STOMACH: Great thirst for cold water.
RESPIRATION: Larynx feels sore.
FEVER: A high feverish state. Feet icy cold. No thirst with fever.
SYMPTOMS: worse with touch, noise & lying down.

BRYONIA ALBA
Aching in every muscle. Pain worse by motion, better rest.
MIND: Very irritable.
HEAD: Bursting headache worse from motion. Frontal headache, frontal sinuses involved.
NOSE: Some nasal discharge and aching in the forehead.
MOUTH: Dryness of mouth, tongue, and throat, with excessive thirst.
THROAT: Dryness, sticking on swallowing, scraped and constricted.
COUGH: Cough worse after eating or drinking. Cough worse by going into warm room.
FEVER: Fever with chilliness and easy, profuse perspiration.
SYMPTOMS worse with warmth, movement or touch. Better by pressure, rest or cold things.

EUPATORIUM-PERFOLIATUM
Pain as if bones were broken. Great soreness & pain of muscles and bones.
HEAD: Throbbing pain. Pain on back of head.
FEVER: Perspiration relieves all symptoms except headache.

GELSEMIUM SEMPERVIRENS
MIND: Desire to be quiet, to be left alone.
HEAD: Dull, heavy ache better, compression and lying with head high.
EYES: Eyelids heavy, patient can hardly open them.
NOSE: Watery, excoriating discharge.
THROAT: Tonsils swollen. Difficult swallowing. Pain from throat to ear.
FEVER: Fever with chilliness & trembling. No thirst.
SYMPTOMS: Better in open air & continued motion.

HEPAR-SULFURIS
Infected sinus with pus forming.
Chilliness, hypersensitiveness, splinter-like pains, craving for sour and strong things are very characteristic.
MIND: Irritable & sad.
NOSE: Soreness of nostrils. Sneezing & blockage of nose in cold, dry wind
THROAT: When swallowing, sensation as if a splinter in throat. Clearing throat frequently.
RESPIRATION: Hoarseness, with loss of voice. Choking cough.
FEVER: Fever with chilliness
SYMPTOMS: worse from cold in any form & touch. Better from warmth and after eating.

KALIUM-BICHROMICUM
Extreme weakness. Nasal discharge is tough & stringy
HEAD: Headache over eyebrows, preceded by blurred vision. Aching and fullness in forehead & between eyes.
NOSE: Discharge thick, ropy, greenish-yellow. Inflammation extends to frontal sinuses. Post nasal drip.
Much hawking (clearing throat). Nose blockage.
THROAT: Dry and rough.
RESPIRATION: Voice hoarse. Cough with yellow phlegm, very sticky, coming out in long strings.
SYMPTOMS: Better from heat. Worse; morning & hot weather.

MERCURIUS-SOLUBULIS
EYES: Profuse, burning discharge.
NOSE: Much sneezing.
Yellow-green & thick discharge. Worse in warm room.
MOUTH: Great thirst with moist mouth.
THROAT: Bluish-red swelling. Constant desire to swallow. Complete loss of voice.
RESPIRATION: Cough, with yellow phlegm.
FEVER: Profuse perspiration without relief.
SYMPTOMS: worse at night, warm room and warm bed.

NATRUM-MURIATICUM
MIND: Irritable, Wants to be alone
HEAD: Throbs. Frontal sinus inflammation.
EYES: Eyelids heavy.
NOSE: Discharge thin and watery, like raw white of egg. Violent sneezing. Cold commencing with sneezing. Internal soreness of nose.
MOUTH: Huge thirst.
RESPIRATION: Cough, with bursting pain in head.
FEVER: Thirst, increases with fever. Coldness of the body, and continued chilliness very marked.
SYMPTOMS worse with noise, warm room, consolation, heat, talking. Better in open air.

NUX-VOMICA
MIND: Very irritable, quarrelsome
HEAD: Headache in occiput or over eyes. Frontal headache
NOSE: Nose discharge, fluent in daytime, stuffed up at night and outdoors
THROAT: Rough, scraped feeling.
FEVER: Fever with chill. Aching in limbs and back. Chilly; must be covered in every stage of fever.
SYMPTOMS: Worse in morning and with cold. Better from a nap

PHOSPHORUS
MIND: Great lowness of spirits. Hyposensitive, indifferent.
NOSE: Bleeding
MOUTH: Thirst for very cold water.
RESPIRATION: Hoarseness; worse evenings. Larynx very painful. Cannot talk on account of pain in larynx.
Sweetish taste while coughing. Phlegm rusty, blood-colored
FEVER: Fever with lack of thirst. Profuse perspiration.
SYMPTOMS: Worse with warm food or drink. Better in dark, cold food & cold

PULSATILLA
MIND: Weeps easily. Likes sympathy.Highly emotional.
NOSE: Yellow mucus; abundant in morning.
MOUTH: Dry mouth, without thirst. Thirstlessness
RESPIRATION: Dry cough in evening and at night, loose cough in the morning. Expectoration bland, thick, bitter, greenish.
FEVER: Chilliness, even in warm room, without thirst. External heat is intolerable.
SYMPTOMS: Worse from heat, warm room. Better; open air, motion, cold applications, cold food.

RHUS-TOXICODENDERON
MIND: sad. Thoughts of suicide. Extreme restlessness, with continued change of position.
HEAD: Heavy head. Headache in back of head.
THROAT: Sore, with swollen glands.
EXTREMITIES: Soreness & pain of bones.
FEVER: Fever with chilliness, restlessness & trembling.

Importance of sleep can’t be overemphasized. All of us sleep, some more, some less. Sleep gives our bodies the time to repair & rejuvenate the body and get us ready for the next day. In this day & age, sleep is the first thing which everyone skimps on as a result of the fast paced stressful life.

Importance of sleep has been scientifically proven in several studies which show that sleep starved individuals are prone to more accidents, infections & illnesses.

Even if you forget the studies & science, you’d have noticed yourself how groggy & edgy you feel when you are sleep starved. It’s your body’s way of telling you to slow down to give your body the time to repair and heal itself. What is Homeopathy and the basic non-biased info about it:

If you wonder What is homeopathy, here is a brief primer: It was discovered by a German doctor, Dr. Samuel Hahnemann in around 1784. What he observed was that a substance known to cause the symptoms of disease in a healthy person will induce a cure of those very symptoms, if administered in a sick person. The homeopathic medicines are called remedies. They are made by diluting a substance (e.g. a plant extract) in a special way.

How is Homeopathy Safe

Homeopathic remedies are made using a special dilution process which makes the remedies safe when used properly. There are no physical ingredients of the substance in the final remedy from which the homeopathic remedy is made, hence it is non-toxic.

There are a few different ways to conduct homeopathic dilution but the most commonly used method involves taking one drop of the extract of the substance e.g. plant extract and mixing it with 99 drops of water. This mixture is then shaken upto 10 times by hitting it against something hard (known as succussion). This mixture now is called a dilution of 1C where C stands for centesimal. Then one drop is taken from this mixture of 1C and mixed with 99 drops of water and succussed. This new mixture is now called 2C. In this way the homeopathic remedies are prepared.

Most commonly used potency is 30C. A high school student can tell you that after a dilution of 12C, there is no physical presence of the main extract from which the remedy is made (due to the Avogadro’s law) thus making the remedies safe & non-toxic.

How does homeopathy work

No one knows how homeopathy works.

There are several theories but nothing conclusive. The present understanding of science can’t offer the explanation of how homeopathy works. Some critics say its placebo. But had it been placebo, it wouldn’t have worked on animals, infants & children.

Practice of Homeopathy

The founder of homeopathy Dr. Hahnemann practiced and taught everyone to follow these cardinal rules:

  1. Administer only a single remedy at a time

  2. Choose the remedy based on totality of symptoms

  3. Give the minimal dose

Choosing a single remedy out of thousands is not easy and only someone who has a deep understanding of homeopathy can do that. That’s why many homeopaths have resorted to giving a mixture of several remedies. While this approach can work for acute cases e.g. common cold etc., it spoils the chronic cases making cure difficult.
